  • How does it work?
Laser hair removal works by destroying the root of the hair follicle. During treatment, flashes of light are distributed over the skin and absorbed by the melanin in the hair follicles. The absorbed light damages the hair follicle without injuring healthy tissue or cells. The GentleYag is the only laser machine on the market with a Dynamic Cooling Device™. This device delivers a short spray of cryogen onto the skin milliseconds before the laser pulse is delivered. The degree of cooling can be controlled for different Fitzpatrick Skin Types, allowing darker skin types to be safely treated. Laser hair removal is only effective during the active hair growth cycle called the anagen phase. Each hair in your body can be at a different stage in the growth cycle at any given time. In order to target the hair during the anagen phase, multiple laser treatments are necessary to target the many hair follicles during their growth stage.
  • How long before I see results?
Patients should see results after the first treatment. The hair will grow back finer and weaker and the skin will become smoother. Results will become more noticeable and impressive with each additional treatment until all follicles are destroyed, successfully stopping continuous hair growth. Most patients require 6 to 8 treatments spaced 4 to 6 weeks apart to achieve desired results. Patients with lighter hair may require more treatments than others, but will still see effective results by the end of their treatments.
  • What should I do AFTER my appointment?
    1. Immediately after treatment, there may be erythema (redness) and edema (swelling) of each hair follicle in the treatment site, which may last up to 2 hours, or longer. The erythema may last up to 2-3 days. The treated area will feel like a sunburn for a few hours after treatment. 2. A topical soothing skin care product such as aloe vera gel may be applied following treatment if desired. 3. Makeup may be used immediately after the treatment as long as the skin is not irritated. 4. Avoid sun exposure to reduce the chance of hyperpigmentation (darker pigmentation). 5. Use a sunblock (SPF 30+) at all times throughout the course of treatment. 6. Avoid picking or scratching the treated skin. Do not use any other hair removal treatment products or similar treatments (waxing, electrolysis or tweezing) that will disturb the hair follicle in the treatment area for 6 weeks after the laser treatment is performed. Shaving only should be done between treatments. 7. Several days to weeks after the treatment, shedding of the treated hair may occur and this appears as new hair growth. This is NOT new hair growth. You can clean and remove the hair by washing or wiping the area with a wet cloth. 8. After the axilla (underarm) is treated, you may wish to use a powder instead of a deodorant for 24 hours after the treatment to reduce skin irritation. 9. There are no restrictions on bathing except to treat the skin gently, as if you had sunburn, for the first 24 hours.
  • What should I do BEFORE my appointment?
    1. Avoid sun exposure 4-6 weeks before and after treatment. 2. Avoid bleaching, plucking, threading, epilating, or waxing hair for 6 weeks prior to treatment. The melanin-containing hair must be present in the follicle as it is the “target” for the laser light. 3. If you have had a history of perioral or genital herpes simplex virus, please take a prophylactic antiviral therapy, such as Valtrex or acyclovir for 7 days prior to your treatment. Follow the directions for your particular antiviral medication. 4. RECENTLY TANNED SKIN CANNOT BE TREATED! If treated within 2 weeks of active (natural sunlight or tanning booth) tanning, you may develop hypopigmentation (white spots) after treatment and this may not clear for 2-3 months or more. 5. The use of self-tanning skin products must be discontinued one week before treatment. Any residual self-tanner should be removed prior to treatment. 6. Avoid the following medications: Iron pills 3 days before your treatment. Antibiotics, Retin-A/tretinoin, aspirin, and any blood thinning medication 3 days before your treatment. Oral isotretinoin (Accutane) or immunosuppressants in the last 6 months. 7. Make sure to shave your treatment area 24 hours before your appointment for best results. 8. On the day of your appointment make sure the treatment area is clean and free of makeup, lotions, deodorants, and any other ointments or topical products.
  • How Do PRP Injections Help with Hair Restoration?
Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) injections help to stimulate your body's natural healing process. It works by taking a small blood sample and separating the plasma. Inside the plasma are millions of platelets, the cells within the blood responsible for the healing process. By injecting a concentration of platelets into areas affected by hair loss, we can help stimulate hair regrowth, slow down hair loss, and help thicken thinning hair. PRP injections also help with joint pain due to arthritis or sports injuries.
  • Which Facial Treatments Are a Good Option For My Skin?
Facials can provide deep hydration to your skin, leaving you looking younger and more radiant. They are non-invasive, so there is no downtime, and you can return to normal activities immediately. We combine treatments such as hydrafacials, chemical peels, and LED light therapy to help you achieve specific skin goals, such as looking more radiant, reducing the appearance of lines and wrinkles, and restoring a flawless texture and appearance.
  • Are Chemical Peels Safe?
When done by a trained medical professional, chemical peels are a safe way to remove the dead layer of your skin and reveal clear, fresh skin underneath. There are different types and strengths of chemical peels, so it's a good idea to work with a professional to determine which option is best for your skin type and aesthetic goals. Medical-grade chemical peels may require some recovery time depending on your skin type and the strength of the peel. Most patients heal within a week or two after their peel.
  • What if I want to cancel my membership?
There are no long-term contracts, and you can cancel your membership anytime. We ask that you give 30 days' written notification of your cancellation.
  • What's included with my membership fee?
A lot! Your monthly membership fee includes: Annual physical exams Chronic care for conditions such as diabetes, asthma, obesity, and high blood pressure Acute illness care for colds, flu, strep throat, urinary tract infections, and STIs In-office procedures such as skin tag removal, joint injections, and cyst incision and drainage Symptom evaluation to help determine the root cause of issues like fatigue, low libido, joint pain, and more You can get a complete list of included services from our front desk team.
  • Why should I pay for primary care each month if I don't see a doctor every month?
Because you never know when you'll need primary care services. Paying the monthly fee covers all of your primary care with one low monthly payment. Doing so eliminates the fear of unexpected medical costs, often inflated by insurance companies. Plus, you'll see the same doctor again and again, building a doctor-patient relationship based on trust. Your doctor will get to know you as a person and can better advise you on your health by considering your lifestyle, medical history, and health goals.
  • Can my children become members?
Yes! We offer membership plans for children between the ages of 12 and 17 as long as they are on a plan with another paying adult. We do not administer childhood vaccines but can help connect you with services where you can get them for little to no cost.
  • What is your late cancellation/reschedule policy?
We kindly request that all cancellations be made at least 48 hours prior to your appointment time. If you need to cancel or reschedule within that window (less than 48 hours), a $50.00 cancellation fee will be assessed. This fee is in place to account for our time and any lost business that may result from the cancellation.
  • Should I still have health insurance?
Whether or not you carry additional health insurance is up to you. We recommend you speak with a knowledgeable insurance professional to determine your best options. However, many DPC patients have high deductible plans with low monthly premiums to cover healthcare costs in case of emergencies or serious illnesses. These plans can help cover medical care outside the primary care scope, including cancer care, emergency room treatments, or surgery.
  • Do you take insurance?
No. We do not accept or bill any insurance providers, including state-run health insurance programs such as Medicare and Medicaid.
  • What is Direct Primary Care (DPC)?
Direct Primary Care (DPC) is an alternative healthcare model. Today's traditional model involves you, your health insurance company, and your doctor. The DPC model eliminates the insurance company and reconnects you to your doctor directly. You pay a monthly fee to your doctor in return for your primary care services, including wellness checks, acute sickness visits, and chronic care. There are no co-pays, no deductible, and the doctor doesn't bill your insurance for anything.
  • Can I save money on healthcare costs with DPC?
It's very likely! Your monthly membership covers all of your primary care visits as well as many in-office procedures. You also get discounted pricing on labs and imaging and wholesale pricing on medication. Depending on the kind of care and treatments you need, you'll likely save money compared to monthly insurance premiums, deductibles, and copays. You may want to add how much you paid for primary care over the last few years and compare it to our monthly fees.
